Leaf-hopper

Unread post by chirinda »

Does anyone have any idea what this little number is? He looks a bit like a Knysna Loerie coloured honey badger.

I saw him on a tree in my garden in Johannesburg a couple of weeks ago. I doubt if he was as much as 1 cm long, more like 8 mm, running along the bark of the tree.

So it's summer, we've had a lot of rain recently, and it is a yellowwood tree. I only saw the one, and the picture is very much enlarged. You can barely see him on the original. Apologies for the quality.

Thank you so much Ross Hawkins and Marj Atkins, it is indeed a leaf hopper nymph. Prof Google confirmed with his own pic of the same chap when I knew what to ask him for. Appreciate your help. :gflower:
