WildCard Magazine

Unread post by Jose »

Naand folks! :)

Simple question, or so I thought. I've already asked on Wild Card Magazine page on Facebook:
3 June at 11:23
Given the dates of "recent" posts I am wondering: Is this page still active? Is Wild Card Magazine still alive? I've had a Wild Card since forever and have renewed yearly... My current card expires 29-Nov-2020. All fine, so far. But: I have not received any magazines since the Spring edition 2019 (No. 48). Is the magazine still part of the package? And yes, I understand delays and such because of C19, but my problem obviously started long before March 2020. Thank you.)

No reply so far.

So... Anyone here who can answer my question?

Greetz from the NL (and yes, I want to go back to the BPOE asap... ;) )

Hi Jose
I believe that there was a delivery issue long before Covid-19 Lockdown.
My last edition was also the Spring 2019 edition, but I will make enquiries for you.
There should have been at least Summer edition and maybe even the Autumn one before Lockdown happened.

Dankie Val! Any update is appreciated!

BTW: In between posts I have received other, slightly worrying, information. Let's keep in touch, and informed.

Stay safe! xxx

Edit: BTW2: Yes, I have emailed them, weeks ago... no reply so far.

Hi Jose and all other members.

This is the current situation.

The contract with the magazine distributors, ended last year, and was not renewed, which is why the Spring 2019 edition was the last one to be sent to us all.

Wild Card are looking for a new distributor, so hopefully once the Lockdown rules allow, we can start getting them again.

In the meantime we must just enjoy the online editions.

Thanks again, Val. I owe you a G&T next time we meet. ;-)

But...
*) If it is only a matter of distributing the end product (a ready-to-read magazine, as in paper with ink on it), why weren't we informed of a possible delay?
*) I renewed my Wildcard on 29-Nov-2019 (full! international annual fee); the confirmation letter mentions "... membership also includes a quarterly ... magazine". Surely, on 29 Nov they must have been aware of the dark clouds glooming? Why weren't we informed?
*) In December 2019 contributors were informed of the magazine being discontinued. Reasons given were vague. Why wasn't the public informed?
*) Another tender FUBAR?

Not blaming you. You're only doing your mod job. Just don't let them use you as their scape goat. xx

Hi Crested Val

We have not been getting our on-line magazines since December 2019. I queried this telephonically in January and was told that our renewal in May 2019 had been incorrectly allocated and that was now rectified. Was also advised that the on-line magazine would be sent to us as normal from mid January 2020 onwards. Regretfully - nothing!
Surely this cannot be affected by a distribution/printing problem?

PS
Marvin - normally that on-line magazine is sent as a link in an e-mail to all subscribers.

Marvin, I just started receiving them automatically when I bought my card.

Maybe email Wild Card and ask them to add you to their email list?

Hopefully you can access these links below to keep you busy for a while.

I wondered why we'd not had one since the 'green' issue. One of the pleasures of the Wild Card is the magazine which I much prefer in print to online. I hope distribution is resumed shortly - and backdated to cover what we've missed.

Profuse apologies PNF, but I missed your post until now.

You are quite correct, that the printing/distribution issue should not affect your online magazine.
Did you see the links I gave Marvin, which will at least give you a small amount of online reading for the moment.
I am not sure how much lockdown is affecting this, because of social distancing for workers?

As you can imagine, my personal contact at Wild Card is inundated at the moment with queries, so although of course our magazines (online and hard copies) are important to us, and we are absolutely entitled to receive them, she needs to deal with actual card issues (extensions etc) first which are affecting people wanting to enter the park, or re book lost appointments.

I would therefore prefer not to contact her for now, but you can email Wild Card yourself and asked to be added to their mailing list for the online mag.

I know that is not completely satisfactory, but unfortunately it is what it is for the moment. :(
