Riding Rough in Bontebok and Agulhas National Parks

Unread post by SHR PR & Media »

Rangers in the Bontebok and Agulhas National Parks are now able to access rugged terrain, thanks to the donation of 10 bicycles by the SANParks Honorary Rangers of the Table Mountain region in conjunction with their counterparts from Agulhas.

Five “Qhubeka Buffalo” bikes each will go to Bontebok and Agulhas parks for use by the field rangers along the multitude of sandy gravel roads and trails within both parks.

The 10 bicycles were donated to the Table Mountain region by Nicky Eckstein and Dave Bellairs of the “Pedals for Peace Project” . These bicycles are usually distributed into the rural communities of the Tankwa and surrounds, and need to be rugged, simple and easy to maintain. They have been used throughout the African continent with great success in both rural and urban environments.

For more information on the Qhubeka bicycles, please see http://qhubeka.org/2013/?page_id=88
