KTP Leopard: Amur

Unread post by anne-marie »

This leopard was named after the endangered Amur leopards

Leopard Nr 5. See Afkpuz pics of female with Miera

21.1.2012 - In the evening, when coming again to nr 4, we find this one :D
close to Auchterloni and just a little bit before the turn to KK, on the west side.

And when we return to KK (after stay a little bit with Nr 4, she was still here (nearly sure she was a female)

We've seen this leopard close to Kieliekrankie Wilderness Camp on 21. February 2012 in late afternoon
(5 p.m.). Exif dates shows that the leopard was 32 meters away from cabin Nr.1.
But i think for identification it's aliitle bit far away!

I think you have a good eye
From the original pic you can match most of the leg spots. I think the face also looks like Amur, the general spot shapes and just her look....they do all have a very distinct look.

Kgalagadi Leopard identification

Unread post by Dwyka3 »

KTP February 2012
Stay with me! the pics are not of good quality, but every leopard sighting is very special!!
I've e-mailed the pics to AstroMatt a while ago and he identified this leopard as an unnamed one, now Amur.

23 Febr. 2012: Amur: On a morning drive from TR, just before Auchterlonie, this female leopard was
crossing the road to the dune side. She walked for a while along the dune and then disappeared over it.
2 pics of her.

Oh and while I'm at it, am I correct in thinking this is a young female called Amur. I saw her on the 28 November near Batulama at 6.30 in the evening.

I found this short video of Miera and company:

Thanks for the link to the video Luca.
This sighting was originally posted way back on the 7th February 2012 by Afkpuz (http://www.sanparks.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=18567&start=420)
It looks like some of the old picture links have gone down so its good to have the video here.
The sighting is odd in that it is between two females, Miera and Amur. We still don't know what it was all about, possibly they are related through Khomani but from different litters...who knows.
