S112

Since I don't see any mention of this road here I thought I'd share my sightings on this road on our recent trip. We saw a pair of male lions sitting at the foot of rhenosterkoppies on our second day and on our seventh day we saw two cheetahs not far from the intersection with the H3 apart from lots of kudu rams.

Apart from seeing some nice Black backed Jackals we haven't seen too much on this road other than this very tired Baboon

but we love the area and always drive it and feel it will come good for us one of these days.
Still waiting.

Love your pic Elsa. Great expectations are a way of life in the KNP and the possibilities are limitless. :D

About 1km before the S114 on the S112. We guides call that area renosterkoppies. Named after the renosterkoppies dam that is on the S112 S114 junction.

Day 13 of our July holiday, and still no leopard. We were leaving to go back to Cape Town from Pretoriuskop, but chose to do this detour, since we had seen a lioness with 2 cubs on the H3 at this intersection a few days previously.
Good move. 1 km and a leopard crouched in the road, then raced across, but we had disturbed a duiker it was stalking! 1 km further, and a cheetah next to the road!
First time we have had much luck here, except for 2 sleepy male lions long ago. Will definitely try it again!

This road is one of our favourites and we just love those granit boulders, it looks like they have been perfectly arranged on top of each other.

Had lion sightings everytime we did it.

Still looking forward to spot a Leopard on this road, well will have to see in December I guess.
Balule 29-30 June.
Lower Sabie 1-2 July.

Glory to God.

One day closer to my next visit

Last year in June we had a couple of lovely sightings!

First up were a little group of Klipspringers standing guard.

Then while we were stopped watching them Klystron suddenly caught a glimpse of something walking right next to the car and there was a Lioness virtually in touching distance!
Where she had come from we had no idea but she was on a mission!

She then veered off into the bush and headed for the rocky outcrops and as she looked as if she was lactating had to assume she had cubs hidden up high in among the rocks.

Spent a few days at Skukuza in December, and did this road often -- had 2 leopards on a rock, 1 leopard at the intersection with 114, 12 lions in the road (on the s22 close to Stevenson Hamilton), had the same 12 lions at the intersection with s114 a few days later chewing a wildebeest... also had excellent lion sightings on the s21 which is an extension of this road (5 male coalition)...
Hope to do it again in December!
