Jackal Buzzard is very uncommon in Kruger, but Pretorious Kop is probably one of the better places to find it, that and Berg en Dal, but in saying that, I think this is a Steppe Buzzard. The barring on the tail and the streaked underparts looks like a good indication.

Ruling out Gabar due to the lack of a white tail tip and the baring on tail would be much thicker.

I didn't go for Steppe buzzard because I didn't see black on the wingtips.

Hi Kobus,

I think you are correct with 3 & 4.

Many thanks DotDan. How do you distinguish Steppe Buzzard from Forest Buzzard at this stage? I never can tell the difference . . . .

Steppe buzzard for #2.

The name of the "Forest" buzzard says it all. You'll hardly ever see it out in the open... and when you see it if the forests, its breast and belly shows a lot of white with blotches of brown, never horisontally barred.
