Anti-Rhino poaching info for Kruger

Unread post by zacmcd74 » Tue Jun 12, 2012 4:11 pm

I have been trying very hard to find the right forum or link which gives the public info on how we can partner with KNP in fighting rhino poaching. Can anyone nudge me in the right direction?

thanks

Welcome to the forums!

What exactly do you mean with "partner"? Donations, or services?

Your best bet would be the Honorary Rangers as they are co-ordinating fundraising.

http://www.sanparksvolunteers.org/

There is also a whole forum under Special Interests for the Honorary Rangers and their projects.

What I am trying to establish is this:
Is there a 'portal', website or link where anyone who wants to help fight rhino poaching, specifically in KNP, can go to, to access info on poaching stats, current strategies in fight poaching, how we the public can help (where and how to donate or where to volunteer) and how funds are being spent.

There are a stack of 'Save the Rhino' websites floating about and I do not want to waste my money and effort if resources are not getting to the right place. KNP seems to be a major target so I would like to focus on supporting efforts here. I am assuming that someone or some group is co-ordinating the anti-poaching strategy in KNP? So what I am trying to do is wade through the masses of 'save the rhino' websites to find the people who are actually at the coal face.

This is one of the official sites.
Statistics can be found in the poaching topic (the link goes to the last page).
Donations can be (safely) made via the Givengain page.

You can also find a lot of information on the Honorary Rangers pages: http://www.sanparksvolunteers.org/

The Honorary Rangers are most definitely official.

Have a look here for details of some of their activities. And as a forum we also have activities to help, as you will find if you browse through this forum. Hope you find what you are looking for.
