Just shoot RAW. If you use Adobe Lightroom you can then convert to B/W or sepia or... Just one of the advantages of using RAW.

You can also convert to B/W or Sepia when shooting jpg DeQues. :?

I actually brought up this theme last year without much interest, but am very glad it's back on the menu now.

No doubt BW photos can have a very powerfull effect with animals as in human beings alike. Somehow it just make them stand out more.

Here's a few of my own favourites:

B&W Photos

Unread post by Switchback » Tue May 15, 2012 8:45 am

Is it just me, or can a B&W Conversion on some "ordinary" or even throw-away-photos change the dynamic of the photo completely...?

I like your shots and agree with the comments in the replies.

The tip below by Andy Biggs has saved a number of my colour photos which were poor because of excess contrast e.g. midday light or leopard in the shade of a tree with with clouds as a background. I have now even started an extra portfolio for black & white photos on our photographic website. Of course the rescue attempt does not always work.

A further great aid I am just getting to grips with is using the plug in for PS &/or LR "NIK Silver Effex Pro 2". The investment is worth it if you are keen on B&W. The company has weekly free online webinars.
