In Cape Town there is a street : Buitenkant street , meaning " outside street , but english speakers pronounce it like in beautiful as " beautenkant street " .

What's even worse , we also have a street which was originally named after the canal ( in dutch ) , and called Buitengracht street . Try and pronounce that one english wise

OK , enough of that , and back to interesting places with interesting meanings -

I visited a guy yesterday on a remote farm , back of and beyond the Worcester mountains , just off " Bo Swaarmoed pas " , meaning Top , or upper-heavy-courage-pass .

 Another interesting name, in the Overberg (Western Cape) and you will travel through this village if you go to Agulhas NP via Hermanus, is Baardskeerdersbos. Beard shaver's bush.
"Baard" pronounced as is, "skeerder" ...the ee as the ea in dear ? skeardir and bos, is just "bos"
