I have altered the size to the maximum of 800 pixels and this is the result.

This is page 1 of 3. I hope that it is readable. Please let me know if it is not. I will then type it out onto Word and then paste here.

That line used to have the name "the line of death."

A colourful history, but I am glad it no longer dissects the KNP.

One can enlarge the screen by pressing the "Ctrl" button and while doing so, scrolling on your scroll wheel on the mouse. Then it becomes an easy read.

Interesting , thank you R !
There is brief mention of the accident in the book "Neem Uit Die Verlede" by the late Dr U de V Pienaar , ex Warden of KNP .
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

jeffgordon wrote:Streamtrainfan, you are my hero! I have been trying to track down details of this incident for over six months now and kept coming up against dead ends. The amazing thing to think is that there are probably still quite a few people kicking around today who were involved in that accident. My next mission is to try and track one of them down!

It is so strange to think that a trainline once disected the southern part of the Park. I am glad it no longer does, but who wouldnt have LOVED to have taken that train ride?

Hi jeffgordon. I am so pleased that this article has been of use to you.

I still wish the trains disected the Kruger then I could do my two favourite past times at the same time.
