Common Slit Faced Bat

Unread post by Nick H » Tue Aug 16, 2011 10:42 am

Hi, I posted this on the mammal ID thread, but I saw this and thought it might be a better place to ask the question: What bat is this? Seen roosting in a building in Hwange Nat. Park, Zimbabwe.

Nick- I must apologise,

I was thinking of Botswana when ID'ing your bat.

In Zim, you get many species of Slit Faced bats and they can only be identified by measuring them by their ear length.

But the chances are highly likely that your bat is Common Slit Faced due to the fact that it is the most common.

Sorry about that,

Don't worry Batmad - thanks for correcting that! What is the scientific name for Common Slit-faced Bat?
