Snake: Spotted Harlequin

Please could someone please help to identify this snake, we saw it on the road in Bathurst in the Eastern Cape

It looks to me like a Spotted Harlequin snake (Homoroselaps lacteus). It has various color variations in different areas of the country, and is found over large areas of the western cape and the eastern inland areas of the country. Small gape, not very aggressive, few known bites, but with unpleasant results.

Yes, I agree with Imberbe's identification!! I have yet to see one of these alive in front of me... Stunning :clap:
