Managed to get a shot of a Lesser Swamp Warber on its nest on Saturday morning. Being early morning I had to shoot at ISO 200 (my camera cannot handle any higher), F2.8 and 1/80. Will try and get a better shot at some other time.

Thanks all for the warm welcome, and my apologies for making a rather clumsy entrance!

The picture was taken near the Sasol hide on 27 October 2007 at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens near Krugersdorp.

I hope this helps.

Pantera Leo

I think your ID of Lesser Swamp Warbler is spot on!

When compared to the pictures in Roberts Online, this seems to be the perfect fit. Thanks a milllion! Unless someone comes up with a better idea within the next day or so, Lesser Swamp Warbler it will be!

Thanks again!

I really have NO idea what this/these birds may be — or even if the single bird and the pair are the same sort. I saw them at Strandfontein (Cape Town) on 21 June 2012.

My first thought is that the first bird might be a southern tchagra? Or that if all three are the same sort, then they might be large-ish warblers? BUT the great reed-warbler is given as a summer visitor and also doesn't appear to occur in the Cape. A second thought might be brown robin, but it also doesn't appear to occur in the Cape :wall: So I'm flummoxed :wall: :wall: Am I even close?

I would be guessing Lesser Swamp Warbler, but given my prowess in the bird challenges and my ability to recognise LBJs, don't get too excited about it.

I would love to know what the experts say!

The first one is a warbler, but which one? when did you take the photo?
