Awesome subjects that landed in the bin .

I have got so many photos , where the subject was just perfect , and I ended up messing up the shot due to bad focus , skew horizon , a chopped of tail etc etc .
Whos up for posting some of these incredible bloopers here ?

Here's a sad example of AI-focus failing to lock onto the correct subject on a 30D

Had the camera focussed on the jackal carrying the springbok head then it would have been an awesome image.

Mine is a lot less subtle than yours, Madach... lol

Honest, there was a cheetah mom hunting. And 4 sub-adult cubs distracting her. The pic above shows one of the youngsters.

madach, I'm not a pro but, didn't this happen because the jackal started walking towards the camera ? :? The other two seem to be more or less in-focus.

Yep, the jackal was running towards me as I was taking pictures. I shot seven pictures of it running towards me of which four were sharp. In this picture the camera decided to focus on the background  This would have been the best one of the seven pictures had it been in focus. In this kind of situation you really need a professional camera with decent AI focus, and not a prosumer camera like the 30D. A 1D Mark II would have done a much better job (and that's why I'm getting the new Mark III  )
