World Photo Day

Unread post by lion queen » Fri Aug 19, 2016 8:53 am

Today, 19 August 2016, we celebrate 177 Years of Photography!

Today marks the invention of photography.

It was commercially introduced in 1839, a date generally accepted as the birth year of practical photography. The metal-based daguerreotype process soon had some competition from the paper-based calotype negative and salt print processes invented by Henry Fox Talbot.

A long and winding road photography has taken. Today with amazing technology!!

Please share with us some of your celebration photos, whether old or new technology.

A view into my world.............

These were slides taken by my dad early 1960s in KTP, then Gemsbok Park, with an Agfa camera.

Where my love for KTP began!!!

Matthys and Mischief,

Not sure how many people do have photos of those Wild Dogs. Would actually be interesting to see some others.

Today Wild Dogs are seen from time to time on the Botswana side of the park.

The Camels have a wonderful history with the park.

If you love history try and get hold of the book Gee my n man. Unfortunately only in Afrikaans.

Some wonderful stories in there about the history of camels with the then Gemsbok Park
