Car tips

Unread post by Meandering Mouse » Fri Dec 05, 2008 10:35 am

Never thought that I would end up writing about cars, that is, until I met Trusted Beauty.

Trusted Beauty is a Honda CV-R and we have formed a very close bond. I am, however, not the best partner  Some of my latest mishaps have been: cheese fallen under the front seat, apples rotting under a ground sheet.

I also try to take my dogs for a walk as often as possible. We go to our local park where they run around. They love it, but my poor car has to deal with doggy sweat and anything that they might have picked up on their adventures.

Well, my son borrowed Trusted Beauty. He also had to impress a new young lass.
The current state of my poor car was not an invitation to romance  He solved the problem with a sachet of "Stay Soft". One day of a fabric softener has gotten rid of the cheese, rotting apples, doggy flowers and left my car fresh, fresh, fresh.

I wondered, does anyone else have car related tips?

MM - my son also employs the Stasoft sachet method - says you never need to vacuum the car.

I have a different problem. After having been to the KTP a couple of times, the aircon in my X Trail has a permanent Kalahari dust aroma. So now, when I miss KTP, I just switch on the aircon, and I can smell the red dust of the Kalahari

Much cheaper than driving there 8)

not sure if this will work.... :hmz:
When we were in the park we discovered that with the sun shining in the front window...the glare from the dashboard showed up on a lot of...what might have been...nice wildlife pics. we thought of laying a towel or some non glaring material on the dashboard...but didn't have anything with a plain print fabric
so my tip is...experiment before entering the park with various things to ward off that dashboard glare...I'm thinking plain blue fabric?

What do you do with the Sta-soft? I can't work it out.

Restio, the way I read it, sta-soft helps get rid of unpleasant odours in the vehicle.

What do you do with the Sta-soft?

It seems that it's all the sons who know the secret of sweet smelling cars without the vacume cleaner

It really does work, but I now start work smelling like stay soft rinse.

Does on have to open the sachet or do you just put it under the seat?
( I have a car like MM's that needs some help :D )

Just put it under the seat as is, it does not have to be opened. It's truly amazing how well it works. I'm thinking of putting one in all the places my to cat likes to spray

how about this...if you're stranded with a broken belt on the engine...try ladies nylon stockings. Why you'd be wearing nylons in the park... :hmz:
anyway...just make a 'rope' with the twisted leggings and secure it tight around the pulleys. If it works it should get you to some help.

You might not have nylons - but probably do have a first aid kit. A bandage or elastoplast will also work.

I have also used a safety pin to replace a lost split pin from my accelerator cable, and elastoplast to repair a hole in a waterhose.
