Note to public re Funds/Speeding/Reporting complaints

Unread post by Lesego » Thu May 10, 2012 1:13 pm

Dear All;

All SANParks vehicles are fitted with tracking devices in them to determine the speed they are travelling on. This affords management to trace staff members who speed and take remedial action against anyone found guilty of contravening the rules.

In the case of the reported incident in the 'The Star' newspaper and on the forum, our investigations have revealed that the bus with the following registration DZR198MP was travelling at the required speed limit, which disputes the claims of the SANParks bus speeding.

There is a number that one can call to report any speeding vehicle in the park and we would like people to use that. The number is 013 735 4325

However; SANParks appreciates the reporting of any wrong doing by its employees and visitors. Further, SANParks would like to refute the innuendos of rangers not having radios or us having to repair flood damages. The organisation is in a process of procuring services that will ensure that all damaged property is restored, it has to be noted that as a public institution there are procedures that need to be followed as per the Public Finance Management Act. The public must be aware of the fact that some of these properties have been insured and certain protocols have to be followed.

SANParks would also like to denounce attempts to swindle the public off their money the SANParks' name. We have direct relationship with the various stakeholders including the Honorary Rangers and we do not need the middle man in any way. We therefore request members of the public to be aware of these unscrupulous outfits pretending to be concerned about the status of our conservation.

We have also noted attempts by the likes of Africa Wild (Aikona) requesting people to direct their complaints about the national parks to their forum, that is not a recognised SANParks forum and we cannot allow any misrepresentation of SANParks by this group.
Complaints should be lodged directly with SANParks as complaints collected through the third party creates wrong impressions and causes damage to the image of SANParks. Correct channels to follow when lodging a complaint can be found here.

We trust that this will reach you in good faith.

Kind Regards:
