Camera Trap Project - KTP

Unread post by Kgalagadi Guru » Thu Dec 29, 2011 8:01 am

You are telling me....I can’t wait.

Firstly I would like to thank the VHR's (Duke and all involved) who have donated 2x cameras. The one cam is for the Conservation department to assist in their duties and the other is to be placed out where we can bring you more stunning images.
Then AGAIN Muhammad Mia, for donating two Ranger Cams to be placed out at the Wilderness camps / waterholes. You guys are the best even if it means I have more cams to visit and pictures to sort out  . I guess I will have to look at a assistant...........

Guys thanks for the generous donations it will be put to very good and conservation related use.

FANTASTIC

Anyone out there got a good deal on 16gig SD cards ?? I'm sure Jannie will be needing a whole lot more so he can swop them out - how many cameras are there now in operation ?

Hi there,

We are looking at 3 x16GB (or larger), I have seen that the 4GB cards dont l;ast long regarding pictures where the 16GB can take 9900 pictures.

Which class do you prefer? or do you prefer 32GB instead of 16GB  ?

The good quality cards here in SA are usually expensive from what I have seen especially the 16GB and up. Much cheaper to bring them in from overseas.

I wonder if the camera traps can use SDXC cards? then you have the option of 64GB

If it's a Bushnell it only takes SD-cards and max 32GB. Neither does the Tasco cam.

Great, thanks for the feedback everyone - this is what the Forum is wonderful for  I am busy looking at prices for the 16 gigs but they aren't cheap so if we could get a few at a good price I'm sure it will be of great benefit to all of us camera trap addicts :D

I have some money from some forumites in lieu of Barcud's Antarctica presentation. It was suggested that the proceeds be used to puchase another camera. I am waiting for the last donation to arrive before I know the final amount.

If the (majority of the) donors agree, I could buy a number of cards. My wife is in the trade and might be able to get them at a better price than usual.

Donors please pm me with your answer.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".
