T-SHIRTS WITH SANPARKS LOGO ON?

Unread postby RUMURUTI » Thu Feb 26, 2009 9:06 pm

Good evening to you all,

I am always working on my august trip to Kruger and as I am in the Graphics/Printing business I wanted to know if I could use and print the SanParks logo , Kudu, on some t-shirts.
Who do I have to contact for permission?
Can I also print the yellow ribbon?

Was also thinking of writing something like "We Love Kruger National Park". The O, of Love, would be a smily.

My son is loving the planning and so on and the T-shirts was his idea and I'd like to make it a special trip for him.
Thanks for your advice

Hi Andy!

Thanks for asking before going ahead making the t-shirts!

With regarding using the SANParks logo (kudu kop), it is trademarked and guarded very carefully by SANParks and may not be used without permission from them.

Obtaining permission is also not easy as they have a code of conduct that accompanies the logo.

The yellow ribbon is not trade marked tho and you may print it on your t-shirts

I'm sorry, but the Sanparks logo is trademarked, meaning you are not allowed to use it without permission.
And permission is very hard to get.

The yellow ribbon is easier, that's a forum thing, and can be used as you like.
Not posting much here anymore, but the photo's you can follow here There is plenty there.

Feel free to use any of these additional letters to correct the spelling of words found in the above post: a-e-t-n-d-i-o-s-m-l-u-y-h-c

Thank you all for the info, I always have to do with trademarked logo's and understand them guarding it.
Will have a try and in case of negative reply will have the ribbon plus the "I love Kruger National Park" writing.

Thanks again

Guys, we really need to work on getting a forum thing going for t-shirts and hats etc. I know someone was looking into it but it's gone very quiet!
Want to say Thank You or Well Done to a fellow 'mite? Why not nominate them for a Kudu?

I know this has been discussed some time back, but along with the yellow ribbon, are you allowed to have the forum web address

It is taking some time yes, but it is one of the many things on the list for the VHRs to tackle as soon as the region has been formalized.

The VHR region presently has 2 HRs and 4 applicants. As soon as the applicants are made full HRs, the region will then have enough HRs to qualify and be recognised as a full HR region.

When we approached Glenn Philips at SANParks about the printing of forum t-shirts, this was his recommendation.

In the same breath, I will probably not be allowed to wear my set of the old "National Parks" "Nasionale Parke" epaulettes. I intend using them to scare lawbreakers when in Kruger. I have used it to great effect when we went fishing one day. I put the epaulettes, pretended to be on official and patrolled the banks of the Bloemhof dam, checking for fishing licences. It caused great consternation amongst the anglers. Some of them packed up in a hurry and left the dam.

 Must have been a sight!

But Rooies, please don't do that. Using those epaulets in a wrong way can actually bring you in to big trouble. You will be impersonating an officer, as the rangers are peace officers. It is the same as impersonating a police officer or a traffic officer. :naughty:

The same goes for good meaning people saying they are Honorary Rangers. It is highly irresponsible, and does the organization damage. People who have done that have been caught and steps have been taken against them by SANParks.

I understand the frustrations, but please do not make yourself guilty of another type of wrong.

Imberbe, I will never seriously pretend to be someone which I am not. The fishing thing was done when the fish didn't bite and we became bored. (I must add that Phala's finest brew did give me a bit of courage)

Edited: I have put in the word "seriously", because there is a difference between pretending for financial gain, like to elicit fines from law breakers, and achieving an aim, like scaring people who break the law. Perhaps I should donate the epaulettes to the anti poaching campaign. The buyer can then dress himself up as a ranger and win the admiration of people at a fancy dress party. :D
