A 2017 Gauteng Meet in honour of our late friend Leervis

Unread post by hilda » Wed Jan 04, 2017 4:57 pm

Dear friends,

On 17 December 2016, shortly before his passing, I received a PM from our late friend Leervis, and I quote:

leervis wrote:Hi Hilda, came across this site the other day and thought it might be a great venue for a meet at some time in the future. What do you think? http://www.brookwoodtroutfarm.co.za.

After I have scrutinised the website, I replied to Leervis that I think it is a beautiful place for a meet, and that I think it would be very nice to have a meet there.

I would test the 'mites feelings about the place, and he would have arranged the meet. Kindly go to the website and let me know what you think. I was thinking to have our 2017 meet there in honour of our dear friend who is no longer with us. He loved and enjoyed our meets so much!

Should the majority agree to have our next meet at the Brookwood Trout Farm, I can start making arrangements. Time is another obstacle. Shall we arrange it for sometime in April? The Cricket at Skukuza takes place early in March. Maybe we can have this meet end of March or during April, before the weather becomes too cold for a day out in the open. Please let me know what you think? :k :gflower:

I think this is a great idea, Hilda!
The venue looks lovely.

I would definitely attend if I am here (I am in Kruger from 6 April for 10 nights).

It looks great, Hilda, and very close to where I live.

Looks lovely and a fitting tribute.

Great idea, Hilda. I think we are OK for most of April - just not the Easter weekend Thur-Tue.

How do you all feel about Tuesday, 21 March 2017 - Human Rights Day? Or is it too soon after your long Kgalagadi trip isinkwe?

Thank you isinkwe, Jaxidean and Karin for your confirmation. I really appreciate it! :k :gflower:

I'll just wait until all 'mites are back at work next week to see if we can get a few more confirmations, then I'll start arranging the meet.

I have sent a PM to Little_Leervis, maybe she and her Mom would also like to attend, but it seems that she only wrote that one post to inform us about Leervis' passing, and nothing else. Warty doesn't have any posts on the forum. She only registered to please Andrew it seems. But let's wait and see, nothing is impossible. :(

At the moment 21st March looks OK. Just hope the venue will not be too busy, being a Public Holiday.
