NetEk, I googlelated the net and couldn't find a pattern, so had to ask around and got one mirror sock from a friend. (It was a huge seller I think in 2010) and then bought material and used the other mirror sock as a guide. Sorry I can't help you more but I do believ that there are other sewing experts that might help with this one. :w:

pops - I was in KNP from 7th - 15th October (Punda Maria, Letaba and Satara) and only saw one other yellow ribbon - Hilda and barryels. At Punda Maria, rodgerh came up to me and introduced himself - he saw my yellow ribbon.

Either people are not Forumites or, if they are, they either do not know about the yellow ribbon or choose not to display it.

Over the years, I have met several Forumites and enjoyed putting faces to names.

moobox,
put a ribbon on your side mirror that other forum mites could identify you and introduce them self.
The best I saw was 4 different colors Yellow this forum, green another forum, black in support of the Rhino and red a birder.
But I must warn you; people might asked you;
- why the ribbon is the car a present from somebody?
- another forum member will ask you, without showing his ribbon "who are you" and you new in the game will reply with your real name and surname thinking this person is nuts.
Meantime he wants to know your forum name.
- You alway's see it to late when a car passes you.
But fly it it 's worth it.

I saw one yellow scarf on the mirror of a gold bakkie in the shady parking by the shop at Skukuza on Weds 9 October around midday, but the mites were not with the bakkie. :(

I have had mites introducing themselves when they were not flying a yellow ribbon themselves, and people with yellow ribbons driving past even though I could see they had seen my ribbon, but didn't stop to greet.

The funniest was a German man who wanted to know if the red and yellow ribbons were something to do with Germany even though the black was missing. :D

Val, I'll get you some yellow ribbon. We have a very nice fabric shop nearby and they stock a good range of ribbons.

Maybe I`m a bit overboard but both mirrors get ribbons the caravan one a flag pole one and my cameras one each.

That sounds like us too, Sparrow. We take enough ribbon for YRs on both wing mirrors, the radio aerial and both our camera backpacks and some cameras are similarly festooned. Obviously we have to take the car ribbons off when we return the rental car but the camera ribbons stay on all the time and we use the opportunity when queried to tell people about the Kruger Park and the forum. We arrive 3 weeks today so our ribbons will soon be washed and ironed ready for packing.

As regards seeing other YRs in the Park, we have been really lucky and seem to see more and more each trip we make...so for all those out at the same time as us, please stop for a chat or meet for a drink if you are in camp with us. All our dates are logged on the Meets and Greets. Look forward to see everyone!

Quite funny what some visitors to Kruger think of 'mites driving with yellow ribbons in the Park. Somebody on our last trip stopped and asked me if we protest against something :hmz: , however he was quite impressed when I explained what the ribbon actually stands for  .
