LOL...Buffalo horns taken in the night, now the stories are revealed ey! Nothing like scotch courage.

My collection involves KNP road maps that I bought every year as a young boy from 1979 through to 1990, some green soap with the kudu horns and a Leopard mug that my late Mom brought home for me one year.

They're one step ahead of you, I saw it in Berg-en-Dal in March this year.

I've seen it at Lower Sabie, Skukuza and Crocodile Bridge :D

I first visited Kruger in 1976, for what was at the time a holiday of a lifetime and my only visit to SA!!! Little did I know that we would have an ongoing love affair with both SA and Kruger.
During that first visit, I bought a leather key ring, in the shape of a diamond, and I am still using it.
Almost lost it once, and was in a total panic.

My coolest souvinirs are my Wedgewood plates that my parents bought on my first trip to Kruger in about 1954. Pictures can be seen on the thread "Kruger Memorabilia" previously referred to, on page 4.
However, my favourite is a little thermometer set in the middle of a little copper pan. My first one was stolen when my caravan was broken into a few years ago. A year later I managed to find another one. I am now looking for another one, as my present one got badly rusted on our last trip to the coast.

My 'coolest' souvenir is hardly cool. It is a thermal mug that keeps my coffee hot at work when I dash away from my desk, to return to still drinkable coffee.

I have items that remind me of Kruger all over my house.
One of my favourites is this impalalily that I bought at the nursery near Lake Panic.
The plant travelled all the way to the Netherlands. Sometimes I feel sorry for because all of is family is in beautiful Krugerpark.

A large metal tray table with a map of kruger in the middle and all the common animals around the outside, it is somewhat battered these days, as it travelled extensively in southern Africa and abroad, but still brings back happy memories.

Thanks DuQues  The picture is a bit dark but that you will get an idea of the size of the horns. I treat it with furniture oil once a month and it still looks great after 22 years.

Rooies , I did not page back - is this at long last the results of the "Shingwedzi over the gate at night influenced by whisky as a student horn collecting" escapade ?
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

I've had many great trips to the KNP as a child, and souvenirs range from the ol' leather bookmark to some ancient Big5 postcards (All yellow/brown now, from age)>

But the one that takes the cake for me is the "Kuduzela" I bought last April!
Becomes a great party trick late at night, around my pub!

My coolest souvenir are my maps dated April 20th 1981(When we had our honeymoon) :D , and all my other old maps of Kruger. In those days the maps were large, meaning that the south was on one side and the north on the other side. We used to mark all our sightings on the map. I will treasure them forever!!!!

Hope everyone has a blessed Easter regards Mama Faru
