What do you mean; problems with selecting one camp??? We have problems selecting 3 or 4 camps for our annual trip... :hmz: !

We tend to try and not do the same camps every year. But I will always try to include Shingwidzi.

I understand your problem there Albert! We all know that all Kruger's camps offer something special!
I was just saying this topic is about the ONE camp that has stood the test of time

I see Leanawel was assigned Lower Sabie
Bush Baptist at Tamboti death zone
Grantmissy with Shing :D

By the way according to the poll, Satara is the forums favorite camp. Lower Sabie in second, and Shingwedzi in third 8)

My favourite camp will always be Biyamiti  .Have to book a year in advance to stand a change to get the specific days you want to stay where dark is still pitch dark and night sounds are as clear as cristal .
Always be humble and understanding

Favourite Kruger Hut.

Unread post by Grantmissy » Wed Sep 18, 2013 10:28 am

Which is/are your all time favorite Kruger tent(s), hut(s), rondavel(s) or house(s) - those ones or the ONE that you would like to stay in again and gain?

My favourite ones that I like best to return to are:

1. A perimeter Rondavel in Satara – Sightings from the stoep of the Rondavel are possible.
2. Elsie Clark Cottage in Skukuza – The view, including of the Old Selati Train Bridge.
3. The Cottage in the older section of Shingwedzi – Pure old Kruger atmosphere.
4. A Safari Tent in Punda Maria – I love the nightlife and the old hartebeest huts of yesteryear Punda Maria are still there, just around the corner.
5. Nshawu Guest house in Olifants Camp - Good old Kruger Park family memories.
6. Monis Guest House in Skukuza for family breakfasts on the veranda in the shade of the tree next to the Sabie River

My grandfather told us that he asked my grandmother to marry him outside one of the Pretoriuskop huts next to the camp fire amongst a group of friends. I am not sure which one of the huts it was as it was a very long time ago and I think as he grew older he wasn’t so sure any more. I guess plenty similar good things happened in and outside those classic Kruger thatched Huts and Rondavels.

And those are the ones that some of us like best.

I agree wholeheartedly on the Punda Safari Tents and the older cottages in Shing....special memories!

Then I must add:

Hut 5 or 6 in Balule....was supposed to be there tomorrow..
Any of the cottages in Sirheni: pure peace and quiet.
Any of the huts in the "perimeter" circle at Letaba; to me still the essence of Kruger (childhood memories as is the case with Shingwedzi).
Searching for a Cape Eagle Owl....

Any tent in the Sand River bush camp
The simple rule to follow with all animals is one of respect.

Satara perimeter huts at the end close to the fence and best place in the whole world is a river view tent at Lower Sabie
I could sit there all day and see a whole parade of various animals incl. leopard, ellies and buffalo. Can't wait for January as both camps have been accomodating and given us the units we asked for :k

Hut #6 at Balule for me too...it's magical!
Also tent 27 Lower Sabie is also an all time favourite, just love the view of the river and the night time sounds of the noisy neighbours!

Any hut in Talamati is also great .. Although they are not facing the bush, the camp has plenty of atmosphere and is generous with sightings. Some of the braaiers are located next to the fence which makes the evening braaiing more special because a surprise sighting might be possible on the other side of the fence …. Talamati is also one of the bush camps where we often have experienced night sounds from animals such as lions and hyenas.
