All these in daylight preferably

Hoping that my November trip will yield at least one (all will also be OK! )

Hi Viewfinder,

Which camps are you planning to stay at?

I have spotted all of the animals on your wishlist as below, doubt it would be of much use, just nice to know that they are definitely around the mentioned areas and are/have been spotted fairly recently.
Wild Dog - on several occassions, mostly on the following: close to Skukuza, on Phabeni Road, on Orpen Road, close to Afsaal, close to Nkhulu, close to Lower Sabie
Black Rhino - due to the sensitivity, please PM me
Sable - Jones' Dam on S36, Pretoriuskop
Serval - close to Skukuza, close to Leeupan, close to Satara x 2
Caracal - close to Satara, close to Berg en Dal

Anybody any tips of where I could spot any of those on my wishlist???

Ok for me the five I want to see so badly...

Caracal (seen 3 times)
Cape clawless otter (seen once)

At least I've seen two on my list but wouldn't mind seeing them again with better kiekies :w:
2-5 March Skukuza

31 March - 8 April Skukuza

14 -17 July Tsendze
18-22 July Satara

8 Dec - 12 January 2018 Satara

Thanx for sharing cptphotographer! I will be in around those areas you mentioned specifically since I will be looking for wild dogs and sable, have never seen them in Kruger but would love to! I will be staying at Berg en Dal, Pretoriuskop, Lower Sabie and Tamboti. So will just have to keep my eyes peeled :D

On your list I have only seen serval (in the dark of course 8) ) near Tamboti (H7) and near Satara (H1-4).

We can all dream of seeing rare animals - nobody mentioned Side-striped jackal. I saw one a couple of years ago but thought it was a large dog that had got into the park until I spoke to some other visitors.

The Forum Five is a brilliant idea - why not take it a step further and make it the best five sightings of any one trip. It could even be backed up with photos.

As for my yearned for siting - lions in a tree. When I stayed at orpen last November my neighbour showed me a photograph he had taken a few days earlier of 10 lions in a single tree. Now that would be a siting of a lifetime.

This thread has been dead for a while.. but here's my idea:

Big 5:
Black Rhino

Sidekick 5:
Wild Dogs
Roan Antelope
Sable Antelope
White Rhino

Cool 5:
Zorilla (Striped Polecat)

Nocturnal Big 5:
African Wildcat

Rare 5:
Brown Hyena
Black-footed cat

What do you all think?
