Please keep in mind that online bookings open a day later than Reservations. So if you are going to call, or email, to make your booking, that can be done a day earlier to the dates listed in the link by Elsa. Call centre for December 2015 bookings opens on 22 January 2015 at 7.30 am.

Dear spargish,

There are two primary reasons for that.

One is that there is a section in our client base that is made of people who have been going to the parks for 20-30-40 years - annually and religiously - who do not necessarily have access to online bookings. In appreciation to their long-standing loyalty, we want to give them a bit of a head-start. Over the years we have converted many traditional clients into online booking clients, and judging by client feedback, we are making progress in this regard.

The second reason is that if we open online bookings just after midnight on a new period, we have no doubt that our servers will take strain, and may even crash. We are continuously developing the infrastructure but stress-testing is yet to be performed, so we do not disappoint you all.

It is in our strategic plan to open online bookings the same day as call centre. We just need a year or two to make this a reality.

Also if there is a gap in your bookings on one reservation you can't use the online system to view your reservation.

Apologies if this is the wrong place, but as a newbie (to the forum and the Kruger!) I have a couple of quick questions to start with...plenty more to come!
As we are planning a trip at fairly short notice there is limited accommodation availability - if I book what I can how easy is it to change those bookings online should alternative availability appear?
Wild cards - will these be posted to the UK or can I collect them on arrival?
Many thanks

Warm welcome to the forum Avocadeau! :clap:

If you have a look at the On line reservations you will see you can amend bookings.
If you cancel a booking within 30 days prior to your arrival there will be a sliding scale of charges applicable.
If you change/modify your booking within the same 30 days there will only be a charge if the new booking is less than the original one. Here

You can buy your wildcard at any of the gates reception offices where you will be issued with a receipt which can be used to gain access until the card is posted to you some time later.
If you purchase it online from home and not yet received the actual card, print the receipt and bring it with you for access and proof of payment.
Hope this helps. :thumbs_up:

Booking enquiry

Unread post by riekerth » Wed Jul 22, 2015 1:20 pm

Hi all,

I made a booking today for next year July holidays for Letaba and Berg en Dal. I was informed that I cannot as the distances are too far apart!! Is it a new rule?
:shock:

Hi Riekerth,

Warm welcome to the SANParks forums!

It would be interesting to know because I have driven that distance previously and it is most certainly doable in one day if you get an early start. But also, one can exit the Park at Phalaborwa gate and then enter again at Skukuza for eg...

Hi riekerth,

Welcome to the forums!

No, it is not a new rule, the policy has been in place for a long time and I have experienced it myself when trying to book camps far apart. The distance is about 225km and driving at an average of 25km, the speeding problems, and in winter when the gates are open later and closer earlier, it is obviously considered by SANParks as too far to do in one day :thumbs_up:

Warm welcome Riekerth!

I have heard about it in the past, if I remember correctly I think the limit was 180kms between camps and I see the distance B & D & Letaba is 243kms.
I think its to stop speeding and possible late arrivals.
I see DB has confirmed it as well.

Booking Activities Online?

Unread post by asan » Sun Aug 02, 2015 3:59 am

Is it possible to book activities, like morning walks and game drives, using the sanparks website? I believe there was a section of the website that allowed you to see real time availability for activities and to book them online, like you can for accommodations. I cannot seem to find where it is. If anyone can direct me to the link, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Dear asan,

Yes you can still book activities online :thumbs_up: .

1. Select the Reservation button at the top of the website and open the Dropdown index;
2. Select the Tariff option;
3. When the Tariff page opens, go to the right of the screen and Login to online bookings;
4. Read through the Terms and Conditions and when you are happy with it, agree by ticking the box at the bottom left and select "Continue";
5. You will now be on the login page;
6. Login;
7. When you are logged in you will find three choices, namely: "New Reservations", "Existing Reservations" and "Update your profile" You will see that under existing reservations, "Activities" are included.
8. If you select "New Reservations" you will find two options in the "basket" window on the right side of the page, namely: "Add Accommodation" and "Add Activities";
9. Select "Add Activities"
10. If you have an existing booking the system will take you to the Park where you have a booking;
11. Click on the park and it will open the list of camps.
12. Select the camp where you want to book an activity. This will again open a dropdown screen with all the available activities as well as a calendar;
13. Choose the activity and date and just follow the online instructions.

Hope this will help and enjoy your time in the park :thumbs_up:
Always be humble and understanding.
