I have answered my own question

I was once in a traffic dilemma and was late at Punda Gate. Because I had phoned the camp in advance to explain the situation, I was allowed through.

Say you know you will be flying in to KMIA (by way of example) in the late afternoon, would get to Melalane Gate after closing. Can you organise an escort
to B & D?

Best to email and ask because I think you can. You will have to pay for the service obviously.

Arriving Late

Unread post by Rooster1089 » Wed Sep 20, 2017 11:17 am

We have a booking this weekend, starting Friday, we will only arrive at malelane gate at 5:30 then we need to get to Skukuza.
Is there any way that sanparks can escort us to Skukuza or is there no late entry granted at all, even at a cost?

Thank you

Hi Rooster, you can get a late escort but for staying in Skukuza you will have to enter at Kruger gate and not Malelane.

You will need to let the gate staff know the time once you are closer and have ascertained that.

I may be wrong, but I think the late arrival is only for unplanned emergency situations - i.e. breakdown, puncture etc. on the way. I don't think you can "plan" a late arrival.

As Elsa says, for Skukuza camp late arrival can only be arranged at Paul Kruger Gate.

Check with Skukuza/Paul Kruger Gate whether a "planned" late arrival will be permitted.

I note that gate and camp closing time in September is 6.00p.m. Travelling time from Paul Kruger Gate to Skukuza is 30 minutes, travelling at 25km/hr. If you can get to the gate earlier than 5.30 p.m., you should make the camp before 6.00 p.m.

That will be your only option - you will not make it from Malelane Gate.

Paul Kruger Gate is your option. You should make it if you enter at 5pm.
