Signs from right at the entrance gate, and reception; the menu (and the waitress confirmed they could supply anything I ordered off the menu) and pics of what the shop stocks are here link

Thanks very much for this info, Dinkybird. I'm due to stay at Letaba mid-November and have been trying to find out what the Tindlovu menu is likely to be. So I am really grateful for the photos.

Shutterbug wrote:Does anyone know if the Mugg & Bean is still open at Satara? we go to Kruger for a month so rely heavily on the restaurants as BBQ every night gets a bit much.

I believe since mid-September, the dispute with the operators at Letaba, Olifants and Satara escalated somewhat related to the payment for utilities, and "SANParks was left with no option but to forthwith terminate the supply of the utilities and related services at the three camps." See this news item: https://www.sanparks.org/about/news/?id=57289

On the main sanparks.org page you will see the following statement:
Please be advised:
The restaurant facilities at Letaba-, Olifants- and Satara Rest Camps in the Kruger National Park are temporarily closed until further notice. Guests can make use of the temporary facilities that have been set up in each of the camps. All our accommodation is equipped with braai facilities and kitchens (private/communal) should you wish to self-cater. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

So unfortunately I think the restaurants will be closed until further notice, and knowing how long this legal battle has been going on, I think it might be wise to assume that may be several months (IMO of course).

Thanks konagirl :(
The earth has a circumference of 40 075 km and I have to travel 17 141 km to get to the Kruger, that's just not right

why use a skottle with these options.

not sure if / when we could try this.
Am awaiting pics/reviews....

Because the food's not great - unless you have the lamb potjie (if it's available). All the other food is overcooked and isn't hot because it's served on cold tin plates. :hmz: Order 2 drinks immediately otherwise you'll be parched by the time your food arrives.
Dave

mmm.. :hmz: :hmz:

DJ thanks for this update it has been noted and we hope things improve

I'm sure Isinkwe would echo the concept of " Order 2 drinks immediately"...

Thanks very much for the pics. I must apologise for being so naive but what is that called? and what is in the mugs?

If I recall, the top one is a toasted sandwich. The little balls are deep-fried pap balls. The mug has cole slaw inside. The bottom one is chicken, stuffed chicken I think, with roosterkoek. With beetroot salad in the mug. It was a few months ago and my memory is rusty. Delicious though!
