The layout of Punda is as follows:

There are two rows of units.

The front row no 1 to 12 are on the road. The occupants park in front of the units.

The second row 13 – 22 are on the first terrace. Guests park next to the units or on the second terrace.
...

Regards

Feeling stupid  , but where exactly is this "second terrace"? Still further up and behind the second row of huts?

Last time we were in Punda we were in one of the BD3 (second row) bungalows - first time in one of these - and several times ended up parking in the main road below the first row of huts because both parking spaces closest to our bungalow were taken. Didn't realise there were another 'second' terrace with more parking.

For our next visit we've booked a safari tent just to avoid the parking problem  , even though we prefer to have aircon in summer... (we tend to spend most of the time outside in the park, not in camp - and the only 'exploration' of the camp we undertook was to the hide...)

No you are right the second terrace is where you think it is.

We also stayed in a Safari tent, and I also prefer aircon if possible.
We were there in Nov 2011, and it wasnt too hot, but still hot enough!!
The ceiling fan is very efficient, and was fine for me, though how it would be in the very hot weather I dont know.

We enjoyed our stay in that Safari tent.
Comfortable inside, and a lovely deck with outside kitchen and braai.

Just watch out for the monkeys, unless they have been removed?
In my beloved South Africa!!!!.

Dear Lesley

Thank you so much for the clear answer -- I understand exactly what it looks like. Also compared some of the pictures with the camp map and your answer, plus Google Earth, so decided I would like to sleep in hut no 7 that seems to have a lovely big tree in front of it for shade...
I phoned Punda and a very friendly man allocated this hut to me for 3 nights... can't wait to relax there in the heat of the day, and do game viewing mornings and evenings!

God bless,

Friedrich von Hörsten
