How is the sightings lately on this stretch of road? Some visitors have been very lucky on this road I read here 8) We have never seen many animals on this road mainly impala, elephants, a few buffalo and some Kudus and many birds. The changing landscapes are very impressive on this road. Never seen any predators on this road although we have driven it many times. Maybe upcoming May ... :)

This is a road I still need to do so maybe I will give it a go next month. Is it a productive road and is it scenic?

I did it just before Easter. Saw hyena, buffalo, general game.

Any road has possibilities, just a matter of "right time, right place"!

We temporarily lived in Phalaborwa, so travelled the H14 often.

Usually saw all the general game, sometimes in profusion, but often also saw jackal, hyena, leopard and lion.

Towards the Mopani end, we often saw huge buff herds, nyala, and on one occasion Tsessebe.

The bird life can also be prolific during the summer, with all the visitors.

There is a wild dog pack in the area, but we were never lucky enough to see them, and certain people have even seen Eland!!! :wall: :wall:

We used to park at the causeway, and just watch a wait. We were often rewarded with hippo and crocs and many water birds.

Like all roads........right place right time, but you won't know if you don't try!!!

Crested Val, Thanks for the information about this road, we will be traveling this road soon (8 days time) as we enter the park in Phalaborwa on our way up to Mopani.

Thanks for the info H and CV!
I would think this road is tar all the way being an H road, though I know there are exceptions.

Is this correct or is it a good gravel road?

It is a tar road all the way from where you turn off the H9 a little while after the Phalaborwa Gate right to where it joins the tar road from Letaba to Mopani near Mopani. It is a good quality road.
