It could be a ground squirrel but they aren't on the list of animals in Kruger, another option could be a Woodland Dormouse also known as the Penseelstaartslaapmuis.

The only squirrel that's on the SANParks Krugerlist is the Tree Squirrel but the tree squirrel has a fluffy tail and this animal doesn't

It's hard to tell but couldn't it be a Bat-Eared Fox? Sometimes the light gives you the wrong impression of the animal....but the tail seems to have a dark color, the fur is short and the ears look rather big...

It's too small to be a Brown Hyena...

There are actually a few squirrels listed at Kruger but I'm having a hard time deciding which one it could be.

The Woodland Dormouse sure is cute!

Thanks to all for trying to ID the night visitor  ....I am leaning strongly towards Bat-Eared Fox too, seems the most feasible.
:D One consolation ....we are all in agreement it was an animal. :)

Trrp-trrrrrrrr, I found this photo of a bat-eared fox. The ears definitely resemble your "animal".

Q & C

This "floodlit" watering hole that the webcam watches over, do any large animals ever visit?
I have only ever seen vast views of nothingness, the odd bird and once I think that I saw a bushpig.
I have looked early morning, mid day, evenings

Thank you for the link sent to view the monthly postings. A pleasant surprise to see rhino, elephant, big buck ect.
I am still learning to navigate my way around the site.
We will be going to Addo for a 4 day holiday in a few weeks time. Very excited.

Very cool sighting thiefbadger 8) 8) 8)

Although I've previously wondered if it was a mother and youngster, rather than a honeymooning couple? :hmz:

Maybe the Orpen Rangers would know
