Orpen Web cam

Unread post by vacation » Fri Oct 14, 2016 12:15 pm

I love to log on and see what is going on on the webcams, but now that Orpen cam is black and white, I don't even want to look anymore. It is much more difficult to ID the animals. Can something be done about this please?

The Orpen webcam has been in black and white for some time. Does anyone know if it's going to be fixed ?

Hello all :k , Danie have write this to us in Facebook:

Orpen webcam went wondering around on its own a bit :) ...a reboot fixed the angle issue. The black/white image you are seeing is a problem with the webcam itself which can't be fixed remotely

Unfortunately not all issues can be resolved via remote access from Pretoria. Sometimes a physical visit to the webcam itself by a technician on a ladder (with ranger protection :) ) is the only way to resolve certain issues and in worst cases the replacement/repair of the webcam!

I hope this is okay that i post this here :k

This type of useful information must also be posted here on the Sanparks Forum. Not every living individual has or even wants to have a Facebook account and that would be the last place I would revert to about the Orpen webcam :wall: :slap: :wall: :slap:

I wonder whether it's not an idea to train Orpen or Satara staff to fix the camera when it cannot be done remotely from Pretoria? I imagine, for example, the resident electrician at Satara may be trainable in such circumstances and together with on the job telephone guidance from Pretoria, the problem can be solved efficiently.
