Danie, you gave us a day at the cam on Friday that we will all remember for a long time. You made many people all over the world very happy and there is really no other way for most of us to reach you except through this Forum. I can oly add to what the others have said (and more will say) how much I appreciate your work. We do not take your effort for granted and we are very grateful for your persistent dedication to the Forum.

The nail has been well and truly hit on the head.

This forum is awesome. Nossob cam and all thanks to Danie has had the US, Australia (SA is thumping them at the moment and please please NO offence taken by anyone I hope), Norway, the UK and other places I have probably missed, all together for an incredible moment.

I thinks thanks also go to the 'mites that donated to make this event possible. Well done.

have a lekker (super) Sunday.

Jane

Light gets too hot and cuts out, then it cools down and comes back on, until it gets too hot again...

How come that I get these funny coloured stripes in my pic? It surely is a fault of my computer. But what exactly could be wrong?

It's also exactly the way I sometimes see the pics on webcams. :hmz:

Hi Lionspoon.

We are doing some new developments on the webcams, you guys will be notified soon.

What is basically happening is that the server is fetching the images from the camera instead om the camera pushing to the server. That allows us to 'timestamp' the images. It is not the main reason though, you guys will be updated this week still.

What is happening your side is that your browser pulls the new image before it was completely written to the files system. We will be smoothing out these issues over the next few days.

Cheers.
Pieter.

Here goes, timelapse movie from Orpen for yesterday.

I will be posting more of these here, not too much activity at the moment as you guys know.

I would love some feedback from some of you guys who know video formats and can give tips on quality etc. Also comments on frame rate etc. will be appreciated.

Cheers

Yes, but making them slower will make them longer, if you know what I mean...

At the moment, you can watch a day in under two minutes or something, I do not think they should be tooo long.

I will be posting sporadically for the time being. We are working on automating the video generation and then posting to youtube process. At the moment it is a manual process and some days are just a bit busy ;-)

They are probably burning a firebreak around the camp.

This 'broom like' thing they use to put out the fire.

It is the time of the year that controlled burning takes place in the Park.

The veld in front of Satara was burnt by controlled fire this afternoon.... didn't appear too controlled, as the burn and douse teams were along the tar road, and it ssemed to have spread all around the camp perimeter and down to the Orpen road. Quite a large tract of veld was burnt, not just perimeter...wonder why?
