Hi All

As you can see there are some images on coming from Satara and Orpen webcams since earlier today  BUT the images are not looking what is should look like (yet)! :sori:

Because of the higher resolution and the new aspect ratio of 16:9 of the image coming from the new webcams, the website is interpreting the images incorrectly and you only see the top left corner of the digital image (zoomed in a lot) of both Sarara and Orpen. This leads to poor picture quality and the fact that the largest portion of the image is not seen (yet) by you via the web.

Below are the wide angle views of Orpen and Satara as it should look! :D #patience as the team is working on fixing the web settings to look like the images below too! Have a look at the zoom info text in the top left corners of the two images below and compare that to what you can see currently via the web (you will notice it is heavily cropped and zoomed in with incorrect aspect ratio). BUT it will be fixed! #patience

I got these images directly off the webcams at Satara and Orpen a few minutes earlier:

Satara:

A bit more patience please! :

I think the animals at Orpen waited for the camera - it has been a busy afternoon.

And I think we can all agree - the quality of the picturion the new cams is SPECTACULAR!!
Absolutely worth the wait!

Great news!
The new Orpen webcam and the new Satara webcam are online via our website (http://www.sanparks.org/webcams)!

The website's aspect ratio issue of both the new webcams at Orpen and Satara was fixed and both images are now being published correctly on our website (http://www.sanparks.org/webcams) - thanks to Anton (our Senior Web Developer) who configured and fixed the issue on our website :D ! Thanks also to Jan and Leon from our service provider's network team who spent hours in the sun the past week to install the two webcams physically at Orpen and Satara (they were surrounded by elephants from time to time but I suppose one can call that 'work' :) )

There might still be tweeking on the image quality and other settings on the webcams and website but for now you can enjoy our two new replacement webcams at Satara and Orpen!

Thanks for all your patience and support during this process!
Have fun and happy camming! :cam:

Thanks! It was a team effort indeed; from the contractors preparing the infrastructure at the water holes (Orpen and Satara), the web development team, network team, e-Commerce team and several other colleagues!

We are all over the moon that the webcams are online!

Wowee, what a joy to log in and see Orpen and Satara back and looking so good.

Thank you SO much, Danie and your team, for all the hard work you have put in to get things up and running. You are all STARS. :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower: :gflower:

It seems you have moved the position of both cams, the angles look different.

Hi chirinda

You are very observent indeed! Yes, we have moved the webcam positions (both Satara and Orpen) slightly with Orpen being moved the most. Both webcams are also mounted a bit higher above ground now.

Happy camming!
