Identify and index birds in Southern Africa

Tit, Grey

Is this a Southern Grey Tit or Ashy Grey Tit?

The photos were taken in the West Coast National Park 0n 4 September 2014.

Will appreciate help in this regard.

Can you please tell us when and where you saw the bird? That will help with any ID.

Thanks, Hanlie. Then it is most likely a grey tit as the distribution of the two doesn't overlap. Also the ashy tit is more overall grey, whilst the grey tit has pinkish-buff underparts and a brownish back.

Arks, yes distribution wise it must be the Southern Grey Tit but colour wise it looks like the Ashy Grey.

Unfortunately my pictures are small on the forum. I use Photo vault and could not upload larger files.

Can you suggest another server to upload larger files?

I use Tinypic, which does allow you to upload larger images. I resize mine first to the forum's required size using IrfanView, then uload to Tinypic and use their code to post here. HTH

Look at the distribution, your bird is possibly Grey Tit. Ashy Tit occurs further north and prefers drier Acacia woodland
