Sandpiper, White-rumped

Unread post by wildtuinman » Thu Jan 22, 2015 8:07 am

A nearctic non-breeding vagrant to South Africa.
15-17cm intermediate size between a Little Stint and Curlew Sandpiper

The grey demarcated breasted and streaked flanks together with the slightly drooped bill were the distinct id features in this bird.

I saw this bird at Durban Bayhead in December.

:D Thanks Ladybirder.

I really wish that I managed better photos, but more about that sighting here.
