I haven't counted for a while, so this number may be low. I'll check to make sure tonight and update if this is not right.

Is that for seeing 250 birds all together over all one's trips, 250 different birds ... and do you have to know what each of the 250 is called

Will start a specific KNP list next month .... I am still at the stage I just get excited to ID a bird and log it, never mind where I see it.

Going to the Kruger National Park for the first time in 23 years in November  - will start a bird list for South africa as well as for KNP. Will update it when I eventually get back to UK.

my travelling partner has just bailed out of our January trip so I'm now free to spend 12 days birding without any fear of boredom from her. as a regular uk visitor my list is fairly healthy but looking to add lots of LBJ's to the list and crack the 200 barrier  just hoping 12 hours in the bush alone doesn't kill me

Great idea WTM. Over a period of 30 odd years of birding in KNP my total is now 435.

Thanks DotDan. Yes, there have been some good ones such as Pel`s Fishing-owl at Pafuri, Pennant-winged Nightjar at Punda, etc, etc, but it`s all about the normal birds that eventually add up over many years. Just keep going and you get lucky.

You can put me down for 212. It would have been 213 but I needed help with one strange bird and Trevor Hardaker kindly helped. He IDed the strange bird I saw (and photographed - at a distance) as a Lavender Finch and hence an escapee!

I go to KNP next year in June and will have to pay more attention to all raptors and swifts etc. On my trip last year in summer I added 33 in 10 days. Winter is going to be much harder work. I am aiming for a life total of 350 by the end of that trip.

Keep well - Pete

After checking my Kruger list, I realised that I have missed a few. My list now stands at 305.

Thanks for the topic.

 On my last trip, I saw a flock of Redbilled Quelea but sorry, did not have the time to count them all...
