368 - Rock Martin & 369 - Grey-backed Sparrowlark.

Heading south, let's see what it will produce - if any.

I'll be spending a week in Kruger later this month (and what a pilgrimage this is for our clan!!) :D :D , and I'll have my eyes peeled for every flit and flap of a wing, albeit at the risk of driving my family to distraction every time we stop for another turtle dove! After all, it could be something quite unique and never spotted before. So I'm wondering, what should my target be for number of ID's - I'm thinking 150+, but maybe that's overly ambitious. I know the first 50 or so is quite easy, but after that the sightings can become repetitive, and harder to confirm new species. Also bearing in mind I only score around 5-6/10 for the ID challenge on a good day, I'll need to be careful not to claim those "maybe's". Any thoughts on a target?

A week in Kruger nets me 100-135, but I don't stop for all the birds as I would be chucked out and left for leeukos. You could get to 150 with a bit of luck....

It all depends on what area of the Kruger park you will be visiting? Certain areas of the park hold different species than other areas due to habitat changes.

150+ birds is ambitious for certain areas (Satara), so let us know where you will be staying and maybe we can point out some birds to look out for.

Hi DotDan, thanks, we're at Mopani for 3 nights, Skuks for 2, and BnD for 2.
BB, leeukos - I like that expression - that will be my problem too, but I'll push my luck as much as possible!!

Caspian Plover is a nice Kruger tick Johan, well done. Where did you check it?
