Dendrocygna bicolor

Medium sized duck.
Colour: Rich golden brown buff with brown back and whitish flank plumes. Wings dark - white at base of tail flight. Iris - brown, bill, legs and feet slaty gray.
Habitat: Mainly large inland water, pans and flood plains, preferably with surface vegetation.
Food: Seeds and fruit of aquatic plants.
Sound A soft disyllabic whistle.
Less abundant than White-Faced Ducks, although can sometimes be seen with White-Faced Ducks.
