Pale-crowned Cisticola

A small sized cisticola, though larger than Cloud and Ayres Cisticolas
Breeding male has a olive crown in spring and a whitish to buff coloured crown towards the end of summer,
Lores and the area around the eye is black, forming a diagnostic facemask
Rump a bright golden tawny colour
Tail noticeable longer than in Ayres , black above

Locally fairly common to uncommon, rare in some areas

Moist but fairly short grass, edges of drainage lines and vleis

Usually solitary or in pairs.
Inconspicious, except when displaying in breeding season
