Buff streaked Chat
Oenanthe bifasciata

Afrikaans: Bergklipwagter

Habitat:
Rocky slopes of hills, ridges, escarpments and mountain foothills with rolling grassland and low scattered bushes.

Habits:
Usually solitary or in pairs, in small groups when not breeding. Lively and conspicuous, often flirting wings and tail on alighting or when alarmed.

Food:
Mostly insects, nectar.

Breeding:
September - February.

So different the male from the female - all these birdies are really difficult to remember :doh: :wall: but they are so lovely *sigh*............

Just wanted confirmation of 2 birdies we saw in Marakele last weekend.

I think the first is a female Sentinel Rock-Thrush (Langtoonkliplyster) - seen at the look-out point:

On to the Marakele bird... It is a female buff-streaked chat.
685 2016 lifers: Spotted crake, Lesser jacana, Burchell's courser, Double-banded courser, Rufous-tailed scrub robin, House crow, Manx shearwater, Antarctic prion, Northern giant petrel, Northern royal albatross
