:thumbs_up: Yes, normal breeding behaviour. They would not sit like this, or on a nest under normal conditions.

Owls often use hamerkop nests like this one to breed on.
Imberbe = Combretum imberbe = Leadwood = Hardekool = The spirit of the Wildernis!

Hi everybody. I need some help for the identification of some birds I saw during my honeymoon last July in Kruger Park, near Crocodile Bridge. I'm really new in birdwatching, so I surely did many mistakes in my identifications. So here you are some photos:

Is this a spotted-eagle owl. I know what they look like but this is my cousins pic so quality is not great and having a hard time to ID. Can anyone help? :huh:

Hi Mattib,

Looks to be a Verreaux's (Giant) Eagle Owl, and a very wet one at that! The facial disc and expression gives this one away.
