Happy New Year everyone. Well I guess as my current total is 490, I could set a target of 500 by the end of 2015. . . .

After what seems like an eternity, I finally have an update for my list too... :D

A successful trip to Mozambique at the end of December saw me adding Bohm's Bee-eater and Green Tinkerbird to my Southern African list and then a very unplanned twitch to Avis Dam in Windhoek this past weekend had me connecting with Southern Africa's 6th ever Red-throated Pipit, so a great start to 2015 for me...

My total has now moved up to 910.

I don't think I should really be stupid enough to try setting any further targets to achieve this year still... :hmz:

I have added a few after my last update.
Western Marsh-Harrier
Slaty Egret
Short-tailed Pipit
Black-rumped Buttonquail.
and then a successful trip to Windhoek to twitch the Red-throated Pipit also delivered
Monteiro's Hornbill
Red-billed Spurfowl and Barred Wren-Warbler (at last!)
New Total 677

Hope to add during next weekend's Big Birding Weekend in Pretoriuskop or maybe the next rarity

I probably drove less than 10 km from the ortolan bunting in KTP on 29 Dec and was blissfully unaware of it.

Never mind, I have picked up 19 lifers on trips to KTP and Eastern Cape in the last 3 weeks and am quite satisfied with that.

I laid a few hoodoos to rest, namely narina trogon, Cape eagle owl, Knysna warbler and lesser honeyguide.

I also got some unexpected ones like white bellied korhaan, African crowned eagle, buff streaked chat and brown scrub-robin.

I am now on 621.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".

Hi Salamanda,

It is most definately the Southern African Bird list. So all the species seen south of the Kunene and Zambezi rivers, up to and including the rivers themselves. Although Some people will say that the middle of the river is the boundary!

I hope that helps a little! ;-)
Stiffneck on the loose.....
