How many types of birds can one find in South Africa?

Welcome to the forum Farzaana.

This region is classified as 'Southern Africa' - south of the Zambezi and Cunene rivers, and the bird count (including rare vagrants) is about 965.

But that is not what you are asking.

I would say if you get to 700 within South Africa's borders you would be doing exceedingly well. :thumbs_up:

There are about 113 endemic species in the region as described by BB. A lot of species have been introduced to the region like the Indian Mynah, Mute Swan and European Starling.
