Marakele's new gravel roads

Unread post by Denniscaudron » Mon May 30, 2016 10:01 am

I've been to Marakele a few times now and was gladly surprised at the excellent condition of the new gravel road in Marakele. Not all roads are complete but the ones that are, are most certainly better that a lot of the provincial tarred roads. Thanks to Sanparks for upgrading these roads, it is much appreciated.

Dennis, hi. I was interested in your comments on the roads. We're travelling to Tlopi in early August. Do you think I can get to the camp without a 4x4?
Thanks. Gary

Hi Gary and Welcome!

You can definitely get to Tlopi without a 4x4. I was driving a Polo when I visited some years ago, and altho some of the roads were quite 'difficult' then, they were not impossible for a Polo. And now that they have been upgraded, I expect that you'll be just fine.

Have a great trip!

It is good to read of improvements in the SA National Parks such as in this case the Marakele National Park  .
