Keep on bragging  , love your photos NetEk. It’s great to see somebody else with the same obsession   8) . Nice snake! We too saw a python in June, Western Section in the forest gallery. It’s wonderful to look at your pictures and dream of the river and the elies.

Has this girl visited your side? I named her Barcelona because if she could sing I’m sure it would be as powerful as when Montserrat Caballe sings Barcelona with Feddy Mercury. She was collared at Mashatu in a tracking project but I think the battery is dead. An amazingly dignified being. Hope to see her again.

Catching up here.

Whew, that Python is so well blended into the bushes. Good spotting

Lovely to see one of my favourite places getting more attention.

Thanks MM and Giraffee

I have to looked for a ellie with a collar didn't know there was one will keep my eyes open.

All I saw with a collar in December was one of those dogs (anatonial or something like that) they use to watch the livestock. Him and his goats were next to the "highway" between Map's eastern gate and Dongola lodge.

Gave me a heart attack. It was early the morning and I have some shopping to do in Musina and as you know just before Xmas you makes sure you are in and out of Musina early before the transborder shoppers arrive. So I'm on the road before my first cup of coffee and in the distance I see this shadow cross the road but the shape is clearly predator. No you can't see your first leopard next to the highway, I'm thinking I slow down and there he is standing next to the road. I took a very bad pic with my cell ( I know never leave your bed without the camera) will see if I still have it and post. I was just happy to see the farms around trying something more leopard friendly.

You lucky fish ! It could be Tuli one of the Endangered Wildlife Trust Livestock Guardian Dogs.

I once had the pleasure of meeting Barclay “The Nose” Brummer. 8)
One special boy. He was at that time, with Wendy Collinson studying the effects of roadkill on the wildlife in the Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier Conservation Area.

The dogs are doing all sorts of important work like Anti poaching  and life stock guardian dogs (pedigreed Anatolian Shepherd dogs like the one you saw) protecting livestock in the transfrontier area thereby protecting the lions, leopard and wild dogs. I think it’s brilliant.

Here’s the link . I salute the Green dogs team in all of their efforts.

Not really a trip report just a brag of the place I love. not all the photos were taken in December but I try to remember when. We are at Mapungubwe at least 1 once a year. It's a long storie as I have said before, my hubbies familie's farm is part of the park and also not part of the park.

For all practical stuff (fences are dropped ect) we are part of the park but we do not have a signed agreement yet, been negotiating for years..... hopefully this is the year we can get it done.

If you drive down to the river (tree top walk ect) were you turn left on the road that runs paralal to the river there is a sign Michel Moerdyk trust no entry road..... well that's us.

The family will make me add please do not enter the michel moerdyk trust.
