Just reading about this on the front page of this mornings Cape Times...complete with picture.

But I guess that's nature for you. It's not like Junior hadn't killed others (like his own brother Derek).

Well, at least Hapoor Junior lived to a ripe old age: 58 is quite senior for an elephant bull. generally elephant cows live longer than bulls because they don't get involved in as many dominance fights as bulls.
If Hapoor Jnr had not been killed as a result of this fight, he would have been suffering from the effects of his age - becoming weaker because his teeth were wearing out and he wasn't able to feed effectively.

It is a pity he did not see out his days at Addo, I always pay a visit to see his fathers head (that sounds gross) and always marvel at him. Would it have been a sick idea to have Hapoor Jnr along side his father?
