Namaqua and Skilpad NP + Flowers + 2017

Unread post by George_S » Tue Aug 01, 2017 8:25 am

Hi all,
4 of us are expecting to visit the park around 18th August 2017 and are anxiously watching for news of flowers this year.
Have there been any indications yet re the flowers this spring.
Tx

Hi George,

Unfortunately, there is still no flower in sight. :( Yesterday we compared the field conditions to the same time last year and we were shocked because last year there were flowers popping up everywhere. The big contributing factor is rain, which we had very little of since April.

We will keep you updated.

Regards,
Nadia

Just some additional information about the flowers for the 2017 season. The following is a quote from the topic Namaqua Flowers.

Thunderbird7 wrote:Thanks! That post was from last year!!! On the way back down through Springbok we had a fantastic show of flowers but driving down last week, same time as last year, we saw virtually none! I think you are correct - the drought has made them suffer. The streets of Niewoudtville and Vanrhynsdorp had the best we saw.
