Best route Mokala to Pretoria

Unread post by Tobieo » Wed Nov 11, 2015 5:11 pm

I searched the forum for this topic but found no answers, so if posted before please do not crucify me

I notice that you can travel via Bloemfontein N1 or via Kimberley N12, which is the best from a road condition perspective. Thanks

Well I took the N12 route via Kimberly, but that was three years ago  At that time there were some roadworks leaving Joburg, but no delays, and the rest of the road was excellent. And the sight of masses of flamingos on the dam as you approach KIimberly was an unexpected -- and spectacular -- plus  The route goes right thru the centre of Kimberly, but it's well signposted and was no problem to negotiate

I recently (14 October) travelled on the N12 from Lilydale Lodge (Mokala) to Johannesburg. The road is in good condition all the way. Many parts have been rebuilt a year or two ago. The worst part of the N12 is the main streets of Bloemhof and Wolmaranstad.
