planning first trip to Kgalagadi

Unread post by minettest » Fri Jul 22, 2016 12:56 pm

We are planning a trip to Kgalagadi for the first time in 2017. I have a few questions. Would July school holiday be fine to visit and for camping or rather October last
? Looking at 3 nights in Twee Rivieren and 3 nights at Nossob. Any recommendations would help

Hi minettest,

In my humble opinion anytime would be a good time to visit KTP

July School holidays can be busy. Not Kruger busy, but still quite a lot of cars and people. Plus July can be quite cold during the night!

Have a look here for Average Temperatures

October is my absolute favorite time to go, but unfortunately many other people think so too!!

When camping, it might be better in October, as your night temps won't be so cold.

For a first time visit 3 nights TR and 3 nights Nossob should be fine. Many people will tell you to try and get a booking in one of the wilderness camps, if you do want to experience that go for it, but if you want to just get the feeling of the park, what you have planned is fine.

You might consider a night or 2 in Mata Mata though. Then you'll have time to experience that side too, early morning and late afternoon, when most of the predators are active.

Enjoy your planning and let us know what you've decided on!
