Information Kgalagadi in July

Unread post by robske » Sat Jun 18, 2016 4:35 pm

In July we want to go to Kgalagadi, but we have some questions.

We will arrive by Mata Mata border from Namibia, and also go back to Namibia.

1. There is a time different between Namibia and South Africa, what times are the gates open in July?
2. If we stay at Bitterpan and Nossob, which times will they choose for opening times?
3. Do we need border control if we enter from Mata Mata and go back to Namibia by Mata Mata?
4. How are conservation fees calculated, when we for example stays 2 nights in the park, do you pay 2 days or 3 days fees?

Specially the time difference make things difficult. Can people that go out at mata mata stay longer in the park then people leaving to SA?

Hi robske and a warm welcome to the forum! :gflower:

Some answers to your questions:

1. Gate hours for June and July
07:30 – 18:00

Gatehours

Please note this is South African time.

2. All camp gates open same time. So both Bitterpan and Nossob you can leave camp at 07H30 in the morning.

If you are leaving Nossob to go to Bitterpan please note that because the estimated travel time between Nossob – Bitterpan is 2.5hrs they will not allow you to enter the Bitterpan gate (it's a locked gate that the Nossob office people open for you) at 07H30 as you'll arrive too early for book in.

3. Because you are entering and exiting the park through the same gate, there is no border control to do.

Please see post here

4. Conservation fees are calculated per night spend in the park. In your case 2.

All gate hours are South African time.

Enjoy your stay and may you be blessed with stunning sightings!
